Writing on Rosh Hashanah

By: Rabbi Nachman Nachmenson the head shaliach in India

On Rosh Hashanah during prayer, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev was silent. And when the Rabbi was silent, the entire congregation was silent. It was quiet in the synagogue.

Suddenly the confident voice of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak  who speaks to G-d as we speak to a friend, is heard: He turned to G-d and said to him: "Master of the Universe, today is the holiday of Rosh Hashanah, and it is forbidden to write on the holiday, only for the purpose of saving lives, "For the saving of life it is permitted to do anything on Shabbat and Yom Tov, but if you do not intend to write us down for a good year, you are not allowed to write on this day!!!" -  He finished with a triumphant voice.

Rabbi Levi Yitzchak's claim reached the throne of honor and was received with pleasure before G-d. On that Rosh Hashanah, G-d opened the Book of Life and wrote his sons the children of Israel for a good and sweet year.
