"Speak to the children of Israel and contribute my contribution to each as he could ... Gold, silver and copper". (25, 2-3)

Our sages explain that there are three degrees of charity is like gold, silver and copper.

Gold - as a man, who lacks nothing, is safe and wants to hold the commandments of charity. This is the most beautiful form of charitable giving.

Silver - donation given when danger, thanks to escape the danger of human charity. Because he was looking for a personal favor to have a charitable giving; the charity did not complete.

Copper - the person is sick and suffering, and trying to suffering by giving charity. He feels he has no alternative to suffering, that the low degree charitable giving.

Has additional significance of the difference between gold, silver and copper.

Gold - This is the First Temple. First Temple was perfect, and nothing was missing.

Silver - This is the second Temple, which was missing five important items, like Ark of the Covenant. These drawbacks have caused fear, if lacking a bit, will be missing everything and the temple would be destroyed - as happened at the end.

Copper - suggests our situation now, while exile. After the destruction of the Second Temple began long exile, as long as it is not over, people of Israel is like an illness suffering who shouts to G-d: "Please build us the Third Temple Eternal.
