What happened on Rosh Chodesh Kislev?

Simchat Torah 5738 (1978), the Rebbe's synagogue "770" was crowded with people. Hakafos were in progress, when suddenly the rabbi's face turned gray. The Rebbe held his chair and sat down. The large audience was in the synagogue realized that something terrible had happened to the Rebbe, and began to disperse, who through the door and who by breaking the windows and exit out. (Breaking of windows was also intended to carry over some fresh air).

Rebbe rose from his chair, he finished his laps alone, and soon after the Rebbe's secretaries put the Rebbe to his room in -770. Secretaries called the Dr. Weiss, who determined at once that the Rebbe had a serious heart attack and had to evacuate him urgently to hospital. All the while the Rebbe was fully conscious and adamantly refused to be evacuated to a hospital. So they brought medical supplies to his room and took care of him. Rebbe ordered to all Chassidim to continue the joy of Simchat Torah, as usual, and thus have a complete recovery.

End of Simchat Torah, the Rebbe wanted to say in his talk and the talk will be taken by loudspeakers to the Chassidim in the synagogue. But the doctors refused arguing that, the situation is difficult and that the Rebbe's 75% from the heart is destroyed. But the Rebbe insisted and said the talk.

The Rebbe was holed up in his room and not left to the audience until Rosh Chodesh Kislev 5738 (1978). And since then, the Chassidim are celebrating the day of the (1 Kislev) praise and with great joy, the day the Rebbe left his room for the first time after a massive heart attack.

Goblet of blessing

In the first year or two after the Rebbe had suffered a heart attack in the year 5738 (1978), there were some Chasidim who did not want to bother the Rebbe by having the Rebbe exert the extra energy for them during "Kos Shel Bracha" (goblet of blessing). The Rebbe was very much against this and wanted that everyone should come up and receive "goblet of blessing".

On one Simchas Torah during this period of time, my father was standing a short distance from the Rebbe, where a group of Chasidim were singing Niggunim as the Rebbe was distributing "goblet of blessing". From time to time the Rebbe would encourage them with a wave and swing of this holy hand.

At the end of "goblet of blessing", the Rebbe looked around and started pointing to people, instructing them to come up and take from the Rebbea's "goblet of blessing". My father was holding the "goblet of blessing" belonging to the guy that was leading the Chasidim in song. Nevertheless, the Rebbe was not tricked by this and pointed to my father to come forth to receive "goblet of blessing". It was clear to all that the Rebbe knew that my father had not gone up to take "goblet of blessing" himself. He was just one in a crowd of thousands, but the Rebbe knew that he did not receive "goblet of blessing"!
